3 Months Old already?!

Hmm Lets start with Not sure about the blogger "Face lift" anyways now an update on my little Grain of Rice!!

Truman is the best we love him so much here are a few updates and things he likes and dislikes:

Truman 3 months Old!! 

He is now ... Wait for it ....... 7lbs 1oz  

he averages about an ounce a day since he came home

 Mommy and Daddy are so proud !

Although he is growing a lot and doing great for the size he started out at 

 he still isn't even in 1% for his age in weight, length or head size although his head is by far the closest in making it on the charts haha such a big head like his daddy!

He has graduated from the little NICU Bottles to a normal bottle 

we originally tried the tommee tippee bottles with the slow flow nipple 

but the difference in the two different slow flows was apparently to much for him

Then when Mommy and Daddy managed to forget the cooler with the pre-made formula 

not to mention all the bottles and nipples for our trip to Grandpa and Grandma's last weekend

we made a stop at Walmart and realized they weren't going to have the NICU Nipples so we tried a Similac Simply smart bottle with Slow flow nipple hoping the flows would be similar because they were both Similac brand not to mention the shape was very similar to his bink.... He LOVED it and we haven't looked back.

Also in the last week we have gone from just over 2 oz of milk every 3hrs to at least 3oz every 3hrs 

Although he still LOVES to nap and can and will sleep through anything, he is awake a lot more these days and has been sleeping in his room and waking himself up 1 or 2 times a night to eat all on his own since just after Easter! I think he was in our room for 11 days and mostly because we didn't have a monitor yet. Such a good baby .

Truman's Likes:

*Mommy and Daddy (of course)

*Eating

*Tummy Time (I think he might just roll over any day now!)

*His Boppy 

*His Monkey from Auntie Randi 

*His Monkey wabbanub (bink) from Denise

*all His other binks 

*His Blankets from Grandma 

*His MammaRoo 

*Disney Radio on Pandora 

*Head massages (No I'm serious)

*Sitting in a more upright position which leads us to...

*His Bumbo and yes he looks rediculous in it because hes so small. 

we also only let him sit in it for about 5 mins at a time because its a lot of work

*His High Chair which reclines so he can sit in it for longer periods of time 

*Tubby Time as long as he has a warm washcloth over him which covers most of his body

*he also really likes his Nana and Pop, Grandma and Grandpa and all his Aunts and Uncles and his "Special Friend" as Jenesis likes to be called haha 

*But he REALLY loves his Ruby when she hold him he always stares at her and touches her face it's so sweet

Truman's Dislikes:

*Changing his Diaper

*Getting Dressed/Changing clothes 

* Having back rubbed in a way that you 

press against his spine (like when you try to burp him)

*When you hold him and instead of swaying and bouncing you 

kinda swing him back and forth by twisting your torso

*The pack and play unless hes laying in his boppy in it.... 

I even bought him a mattress for it and still no way 

not without the boppy (spoiled much?)

*Getting in the car seat or staying in it while walking through a store 

Truman also got his Circumcision this week which I'm really only mentioning because this blog is also my journal and because it has a funny story 

So Thursday we get to the Dr. Office and in the Room so I'm stripping him down and changing his diaper so we can weigh him and he cries and screams the entire time I do this  then when Dr Allred comes in he gets all calm and 

* doesn't get mad when he straps him down even though he hates confinement

*Doesn't make a sound when they gave him the shot of Liticaine 

(made his dad weak in the knees when i told him where they gave him the shot :) ) 

*and sat completely still and quiet through the whole procedure

and this whole time I'm sitting there watching and thinking " really your totally fine with all this but a diaper change is the END of the world" I know my kid is weird!

Meet the family...

Truman has been home 2 weeks and Logan and I couldn't be any happier... we love having him home. He is such a good baby we only hear him cry the same as in the NICU, When he is hungry, we change his diaper, and when he gets dressed haha which all happen at the same time so not such a big deal. Other than that he's a pretty chill kid. He loves to hold his own bink and help hold his bottle. Days after he came home he had completely grown out of his preemie clothes and is now in Newborns which kinda fit but are still mostly big dang those in between sizes :). We were so excited for Ruby to finally get to meet him as well as take him to Easter at Grandma and Grandpa Rices to meet Uncle Jeremy and his girlfriend Jenesis who we love, and Aunt Kalie and his Cousin Kinsley who is was born March 31st and The three of us are in love with her. Sorry for the super weird  post and for taking 2 weeks to write a new post! Here are some pics of Truman meeting and snuggling his Family at the NICU and at home for a the first time!

Lots of great news!!!

Wednesday night Truman gained 3 ounces meaning the chances of him coming home the next day were high!! Dr. Bloom decided that yes truman was ready to come home. So we packed him up made a quick stop at the pediatricians office to get an initial weight on their scale to go off at his first appointment on Monday. Exactly 9 weeks and 3lbs 6oz (meaning he weighs 5lbs 10oz) later and our baby is finally home! Did I sit next to him and check to see if he was breathing every few minutes on the way home? YES!! It's been wonderful having him home I actually love getting up with him at night and I know I should sleep during the day when he does but I just love to cuddle and stare at him instead haha. This morning not long after I had fed Truman at about 6 he woke up again and was kinda fussy Logan was kind enough to take a turn and when I woke up this morning he was in our bed all snuggled up with Logan! Best thing to wake up to ever definitely started my day off right!! Truman mush also be going through a little groth spurt because he has been eating more at one time and wanting to eat a little more often, dang I love this kid!

Other great news is that Truman is no longer the youngest grandbaby on the Rice side!! We are so excited that Kinsley decided to join the world today! Bran sent us a picture and she is beautiful all 8lbs 1oz of her! We are so happy for Bran and Kalie we love them so much. We can't wait to get to meet baby Kinsley and to get the babies together!! Awe life is so great right now and the last couple days have been awesome!! Welcome to the world Kinsley, Uncle Logan, Aunt Raegan and Truman love you so much!

Coming home

Our little Truman is coming home in the morning as long as things go smoothly! As I'm writing this Truman is getting his car seat test! Hooray... He gained 3 oz tonight which was the only real thing they were waiting on. So after he eats everything tonight and passes his car seat test we should be on our way home tomorrow morning at some point!
To help Truman be ready to come home spent the last day and a half rooming in with him so that they could see that he eats really well for me and Logan, then we found out today that while he meets the weight requirements for his car seat he is not long enough go figure right? Haha so we got one from the hospital and he is tiny in it. Can't wait for tomorrow better get some sleep!

Not ready yet

Well thanks to an eye exam which had excellent results Truman wasn't quite ready to come home this weekend like we had hoped. Eye exams really wear Truman and most preemies out, not to mention how well he ate the night before... Anyway because he was so tired after we are now working on being able to eat full feelings again, he does it part of the time it's just lots of work remembering to suck swallow and breathe all at the same time. He is such a good baby and we are so proud of him and his progress. The NICU is hopeful that it will be this week and his daddy and I are so ready! At this point it's all up to him and when he decides to take off. I think we are going to room in with him (stay at the hospital for at least 24 hrs) because he eats better for his dad and me then he does the nurses, and see if that helps him get home but again it's up to him. Rooming in is kinda cool the have a room for you and the baby and they basically leave you alone unless you need them. Lots of parent use it as a trial run if their baby is going home on oxygen or other medical equipment, so that they can be confident when they get home to care for their little one. Logan and I love Truman so much and can't wait for him to come home and see his room and all his cool toys... We are so ready for some normalcy even if we will miss our NICU friends!

T-Man Eating like a champ!

Truman is doing so well he is gaining weight quickly we are up to 4lbs 11oz YEA!!! He also LOVES to eat they give him a bottle 2 times a shift so that is about half the time and then because he was doing so well with that and wanting to eat more they raised it to 3 so soon he will get to go ad lib, meaning he will get to make his own eating schedule then after he does well at that then they take the feeding tube out and he most likely comes home 24 to 48 hours once it is out. YEA hes coming home soon maybe even next week if he continues the way he is!! Can you tell I'm excited?! He also got a shot yesterday for RSV, its like the flu shot it doesn't make it so he can't get it but i will help him to be less likely to get it. He did really well he cried for a few minutes and really let the nurse have it at first haha definitely my kid! But was over it pretty quick so I was happy about that.  We also this week took pics of Truman with his primary nurses because we love them so much! They have been a huge blessing to our little family!

 Carla is great she is really sweet and kinda quiet. She once told me she would move her desk by Truman so she could watch him sleep while she charted because he is so cute she likes to just stare at him. Haha that always makes a mommy feel good! How does Truman repay her for being so sweet he tries to pee or poop on her everytime she comes back from her time off haha such a boy!

 This is Denise and she is spicy like me! She calls Truman her "Boyfriend" and tells him he is her favorite all the time. She is really honest and upfront about anything that is going on which we love, (Don't candy coat it if something is going on with him just tell us). She often refers to herself as Truman's stalker haha she known for calling to check in on him when she is off and coming to see him on the rare chance that she is at work and in another room.  She also makes fun of Logan and me and jokes around with us and is loud and we LOVE that about her.

Here's Christy! She is so cute we love her she tells me that when she feeds Truman she always cuddles with him afterward for a while and that she almost always starts to fall asleep, so then she has to put him back in bed, because he is so cuddly. Christy is really talkative and gets a hard time from Truman. He is crying in these pics with her why I dont know because he loves her, just being a stinker. Shes the one that I go to when I want something done during the day haha.

Then there is Melissa who we haven't taken a picture with yet hopefully we will get the chance. She is great too, there is nothing not to like. I love that she is encouraging, she always is saying things like hes done so well with his bottles lets try to add another. She is good at giving him the opportunity to move forward with out frustrating or overwhelming Truman.  She told us the other night that he was stinky and asked if we wanted to give him another bath (of course we did). She then kept apologizing for telling us our child stinks we just laughed.

We love our Primary Nurses so much and Truman really loves them. When Logan or I talk he looks for us. He does the same with these nurses and they love to cuddle with him when I am not there. I love knowing he is being so loved by them when Mommy and Daddy can't be up there  

Tubby Time!!

Yesterday was a great day we got to give Truman his first bath and it was so fun!! You may be thinking "Really he's 6 weeks old and this was his first bath?" They of course kept him clean (how dirty can you get in an isolette?) but they couldn't give him baths until he could keep up his own body temperature. We got his clothes off and was a little fussy because I was messing with him haha and because he was hungry. Once we got him in the water he was totally content and loved it he didn't get upset when i was washing his body he was just happy to sit there. It was a lot of fun here are some of the pictures that were appropriate to share with everyone and on the internet.
