Second Trimester!!

Well we are now 14 weeks and officially in the 2nd trimester! We are so excited to be finding out the Sex in a few weeks. I know short post! Maybe that's a nice change!

Mid-Wifes, Diabetes and Pregnancy

So for any of you who read the title and were thinking "What Rae is seeing a Mid-Wife?" I assure you that I am definitely not. Because I am a diabetic my pregnancy is automatically considered high risk so my original OBGYN referred me to the University of Utah where they have high risk specialist so that in the future if my pregnancy does have high risk complications then I am already seeing a Dr that can take care of it.  I have really liked the University until recently that is. They have decided that they want my levels to be between 60 and 120 when I wake up and 90-120 the rest of the day ... I was really happy to try to do that. So I went in for my appointment last week  and they felt my levels were either too high or too low.... so they messed with my pump settings and sent me home.... later that day my level dropped so low that I became incoherent and was lets say delusional something that some of you may have seen me do when my levels are too high. This scared me quite a bit because I have never had a reaction to lows like this before I don't even remember or know time has passed. This continued to happen 3 or 4 more times over the week so when I went back to the Dr office the mid wife that I had to see because my Dr was not in that day seemed to be so much happier with my levels. When I explained to her that I was not happy because of the reaction I have been having and that I'm too low to often she was just baffled and didn't really know what to do she then tells me "I'm going to call one of the Doctors and ask him because I'm not sure if I should up your insulin from 1.75 to 1.8 or 1.85 because they are too low" and then she ran off leaving me to think "OH MY GOSH they have an idiot in here trying to adjust my insulin" I'm thinking does she seriously have some kind of medical degree and not know that if she gives me more insulin that its going to make my levels go even lower not higher? I was definitely freaking out Then she comes in and seriously has no clue what she is talking about when it comes to diabetes. So I came home with my pump adjusted once again and so far I have only had one scary low where I don't know whats going on but I guess its only been two days. Needless to say since I didn't even tell you all the idiotic things that the mid wife did I will now be refusing to see a mid wife EVER again and will always advise my friends and family to go with a DR instead of a mid wife!
