From the Truman side

When our baby was born the doctors gave him a rating from one to ten. His initial rating was a 3 based on the amount of movement and responsiveness. After about 5 minutes they changed that number to a 9.
In the NICU they have several sets of rooms. The babies start in room one from the OR. They move up in rooms according to condition the higher the number the better. Truman is so far averaging one room per day; within about 24 hours he was in the second room, after just over another 24 hours he was in room 3. The nurses there were a little shocked to see such a little guy in there. As I looked around I saw a few other babies in what looked like cribs. We are excited to watch him get bigger and finally come home even though it's a long road ahead.
Speaking of coming home, his criteria is as follows: weigh at least 4 pound (5 to ride in a car seat though), keep his own body temperature up, eat/suck from his mouth and I think breathe on his own (which he is doing now with a little help from a shot of caffeine once a day)
